ShaShawn, Certified Dog Trainer

Beginning in January, ShaShawn will start dog and puppy obedience classes. Classes will be 8 week courses and cost $96. Payment is due on or before the first class. All classes meet at State Road Animal Hospital. Classes will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Dogs must be up to date on all vaccines.

Adult Class (dogs 1 year and up)

Winter Class              January 30th-March 19th

Spring Class              April 16th-June 4th

Summer Class           June 25th-August 13th

Fall Class                  September 17th-November 5th

Puppy Class (dogs 1 year and younger)

Winter Class             February 2nd-March 29th

Spring Class             April 19th-June 7th

Summer Class          June 28th-August 16th

Fall Class                 September 20th-November 8th

 We are now offering collars, leads and toys. Ask a staff member or ShaShawn and we can specifically fit a collar, gentle leader, or easy walk harness for your pet. We also have Martingale collars, which are a great alternative to choke chains or prong collars. We offer a variety of toys that are great to help with boredom.

Real Life Rewards - All mammals are pattern trained animals (including humans). Think about that for a second-we all get into a routine. Teach your dog in the same fashion, around your schedule. Never give into "testing the waters" behaviors. Routine is actually reinforcement and motivation for your dog. Simple everyday activities to try: waiting for the dog to make eye contact before you let him out of his crate; having them sit and wait for food at feeding time; teach him "Down-stay" with visitors, etc. Do not schedule your dog's training in your appointment book! Training is a way of life. Like it or not, your dog is learning all the time-even if the lesson you are teaching is not the one you meant to teach.
